Tennessee Log Cabin Republicans Oppose HB 1472, the "Banning Bostock Act"

The Tennessee Log Cabin Republicans announced their opposition to HB1472 / SB1745, known as the “Banning Bostock Act,” arguing the bill would allow certain small employers to legally discriminate against employees based on sexual orientation under state law. While federal law currently protects workers at businesses with 15 or more employees, the organization warns this legislation would create legal confusion, conflict with U.S. Supreme Court precedent in Bostock v. Clayton County, and invite costly federal challenges. LCR contends the bill represents unnecessary government overreach, risks Tennessee’s business climate and federal funding, and contradicts conservative principles of limited government and individual liberty.
